Empower’s one-on-one Wellness Coaching is a personalized, participant-led health coaching program delivered by Madelka McCalla, IIN Certified Health Coach. Rooted in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition whole-person approach, each session is built entirely around the participant — their goals, their pace, and the full context of their life.

  • 1 Intake Session — 60 minutes to build trust, review health history, and understand your full life context
  • 6 Coaching Sessions — 60 minutes each, participant-led and focused on sustainable behavior change
  • Virtual or in-person: Saturdays or Sundays
  • Optional text check-ins between sessions and an ongoing accountability community
  • Grounding practice to open each session with calm and psychological safety
  • Reflection on progress, wins, and challenges since the last session
  • Client sets the agenda — the focus is always for clients to define
  • Deep coaching conversation: deep listening, open questions, and building clarity
  • One realistic, self-chosen action step to carry into the week ahead

  • Greater awareness of the health habits and life factors shaping their well-being
  • Realistic, self-directed wellness goals grounded in their values and readiness
  • Sustainable routines that reduce stress, build energy, and fit their real life
  • A stronger sense of agency — the confidence to manage their own health long-term

The program is rooted in the IIN whole-person framework, which holds that true well-being extends far beyond nutrition and exercise. It is shaped by the full context of a person’s life.

  • Primary food matters as much as food on the plate — relationships, career, movement, purpose, and environment are all forms of nourishment.
  • Client-led goals — the client sets the direction. The coach walks alongside, never ahead.
  • Small, sustainable changes — lasting transformation is built one realistic step at a time.
  • Cultural respect — food traditions, community values, and lived experience are honored, not overridden.
  • Strength-based approach — sessions build on what participants already do well.
  • Community as medicine — connection, accountability, and shared growth are core to healing.

By the end of the Empower Wellness Coaching Program, clients will have:

  • Developed greater awareness of their current health habits and life patterns
  • Identified personal stressors and barriers linked to social determinants of health
  • Set and pursued realistic, self-directed wellness goals
  • Improved energy, mood, and day-to-day confidence
  • Built sustainable lifestyle routines that fit their real lives
